Mass and Meet the Teacher - Sunday August 11th

THIS SUNDAY, 8/11: MEET THE TEACHER, MIXER & SUPPLIES DROP OFF
We can't wait to see each of you this Sunday! We will have mass at 12:30 PM.


School Supplies Drop Off and Meet The Teacher times depend on grade level. They are as follows:



PK3, PK4 and K5 will have Meet The Teacher and Supply Drop Off before Mass, from 11:00 AM -12:00 PM.



1st-4th will have Meet The Teacher and Supply Drop Off after Mass, from 1:45 PM - 2:45 PM



5th - 8th Grade will have Meet The Teacher after mass, from 1:45-2:45. School Supplies Drop Off for 5th - 8th grade will be on the first day of school. Therefore, do not bring any supplies on Sunday.



There will be a mixer on Sunday after mass from 1:30-3:30. There will be light snacks, beverages and information tables regarding different activities for children to participate in, such as CAL sports, Webby Dance and Gymnastics, and Young Rembrandts Art.

SMMS Honored With Casseb Foundation Grant Award

CASSEB FOUNDATION GRANT AWARD
The Casseb Family, a local family who supports literacy initiatives, presented us with a check for $5,000 to build up our Spanish literary resources. We will be able to significantly enhance our Spanish language literacy resources with this donation. Many thanks to the Casseb Family and their commitment to literacy in memory of their daughter, Frankie.

Central Catholic Marianist Connection Scholarships

Congratulations to 5 young men who were accepted into another one of our great Catholic High Schools, Central Catholic! We are so grateful for our Marianist connection that enabled these boys to earn Scholarships to attend the only all boys Catholic School in our city. From left to right is Matthew Diaz-Carillo who received the Marianist Urban Student Scholarship with an award of 2/3 tuition paid for all 4 years, Jacob Hernandez, Vincent Salazar, Marc Jacob Juarez and David Garza received the Marianist Connection 20% Scholarship given to only SMMS students. Congratulations to these young men and thank you to Central Catholic High School.

11 Students Awarded UIW Brainpower Connection Scholarships

BRAINPOWER CONNECTION SCHOLARSHIPS
Eleven of our students were awarded coveted Brainpower scholarships to St. Anthony's High School and Incarnate Word High School. In high school, the students will have the opportunity to take college level classes on the campus of the University of the Incarnate Word.

PreK4SA Grant Winner 2018-2019

PRE-K 4 SA GRANT AWARD

Pre-K 4 SA awarded our school with a grant for $122,000!

$50,000 of which will be used toward our second outdoor learning lab, located around the gym.

The courtyard lab will be completed in early summer, and will have a STEM focus. The second outdoor learning lab will have a nature/art focus and be ready in Fall 2019!

Catholic Charities Food Drive Award Recipient 2019

We did it Mavericks and we couldn’t be more proud of our awesome community for smashing our record last year as well as the goal we set for 3,000lbs😲 Overall we donated over 6,500lbs of food during our 40 cans for Lent food drive to Catholic Charities! As a result we have won 2 trophies for most cans donated per student as well as most food donated overall in our Diocese🎉 Great job Mavs and what a beautiful showing of service to our community! You all are truly a blessing and together we’ve certainly demonstrated the power of unity in mission!

2018-2019 Archdiocese Teacher of the Year Recipient for SMMS

Please join me in congratulating and celebrating Ms. Anna Nuñez, who was selected as our 2018-19 Teacher of the Year! Ms. Nuñez teaches Pre-K3, and has taught at SMMS since 2015. Ms. Nuñez has high standards and expectations for herself as well as for her students. She helps her students and her colleagues live out our mission by being a consistent witness of empowering students and our community to witness the Gospel and grow in excellence through faith, academics and service.
